Victoria

This spacious and modern eatery’s menu consists of roughly 80% vegan options, making this one of the best places to gather with fickle nonvegan friends. The food is always tasty, the drinks are refreshing, and they have a large covered patio space. So, grab a leash because your furry friend is welcome to join.

Off the Griddle

With an extensive menu that includes everything from breakfast burritos to biscuits and gravy, hashes to mac and cheese, the meal options are endless at this vegan outpost open daily for breakfast. Open daily for breakfast, every dish is consistently satisfying and delicious.

South x Northwest

Bringing a bit of the South to the Pacific Northwest, this burger-slinging hotspot by night plates a spectacular vegan brunch on the weekends. The highlight of the menu is the All You Can Eat Pancakes; fluffy, dreamy, and massive, these pancakes are topped with butter and real maple syrup. Add whipped cream or compote and a glass of fresh squeezed OJ on the side to take your brunch experience to the next level!

Better Half

Offering a lengthy list of sandwiches, soups, salads, and sides, this laidback spot has something for everyone! Try the Lemongrass Tofu sandwich, a spicy flavor explosion with pickled veggies, cilantro, cucumber, kimchi mayo, and sriracha-lime sauce, tucked inside a ciabatta hoagie.

DC Vegetarian

A vegan standby since 2009, this popular joint serves hearty plant-based burgers, sandwiches, and subs galore to satisfy even the deepest hunger pains.

La Taquiza Vegana

Plant-based Mexican street food? Count me in! These tacos are outstanding. The birria is my personal favorite with organic jackfruit braised in flavorful guajillo salsa, and topped with onions and cilantro. Be sure to follow their Instagram for weekly specials.

Miami Nice

Chef Valerie Espinoza showcases outstanding Cuban flavor in their “so good you’ll swear it’s badMiami-inspired cuisine. The menu features a variety of tasty empanadas and sandwiches, like the show stopping Cubanito with slow roasted jackfruit, cooked in a tangy citrus mojo, house harmless “ham”, pickles, chao cheese, and yellow mustard.

Epif

A pisco bar specializing in food from the Andes Region of South America. Shareable empanadas, small plates, and desserts, pair perfectly with their long list of adventurous pisco-focused cocktails, making this a fantastic spot for drinks and small bites with a companion.

KaTi Portland

Their flavor-packed dishes make Thai food taste new and exciting, which is quite an accomplishment in a city that loves its Thai food. The curry is creamy and zesty. The noodles are soft and succulent. The tempeh is bursting with savory umami goodness. Be cautious my mild palate pals, ‘cus here spicy means spicy.

Mama Dut

During the pandemic, talented hairstylist Thuy Pham put down the sheers and picked up a pan to pursue her passion, cooking one-of-a-kind epic Vietnamese fare. Here you can find bahn mi, bao buns, and the most comforting “beef” stew that combines hearty vegetables and housemade ryblets in a savory broth.

Yuan Su

For all of those who long for that classic Chinese takeout experience, this place holds the answer. Choose from a wide variety of dishes, all packed with fresh, crunchy veggies and cruelty-free meats. The combo meals here do not disappoint!

Mitate

This is not a drill. There is vegan and gluten free sushi at the CORE food cart pods on 82nd! I repeat, they are serving nom-worthy sushi on 82nd Avenue. And while you are there, be sure to try my favorite, the avocado nigiri topped black truffle salt, whiskey barrel-aged black pepper, lemon zest, & arbequina olive oil.

Jade Rabbit

Everything is vegan at this bomb dim sum eatery. The lumpia is fried to a crispy perfection. The soup will whisk you away on a flavorful journey. They even have dumplings shaped into adorable bite-sized bunnies. Cute and tasty!

Ubon Shokudo

Specializing in Japanese comfort food, here you can find inventive onigiri combinations like persimmon with a barley-hazelnut miso or ginger pistachio miso, along with fresh salads, warming soups, and the best cozy katsu curry!

Indian

The Sudra

With four locations scattered across town, this crave-worthy eatery takes an innovative spin on Indian staples. My favorite is the Poori Plate where savory poori, black eyed pea korma, potato masala and collards combine with briney pickled Anaheim chiles, sweet creamy coconut yogurt, and vibrant tomato chutney to create a symphonic mouth experience. Did I mention they have an exciting cocktail list too?

Maruti Indian Restaurant

With a passion for holistic health, this family run restaurant transforms traditional homemade recipes into nutritiously balanced delights, suitable for vegan, gluten free, and paleo palates alike. The garlic naan, which is slow cooked in a clay oven then smothered in Earth Balance, is pillowy soft with perfectly crisped edges. Mushrooms and potatoes marinate in Indian spices and a coconut cream based tomato sauce for their marvelous tikka masala. Treat yourself, you deserve it! Planning for a larger group? Boxcar Pizza

Deep dish, Detroit style pizza and wings! My favorite is the Bianca with mozzarella, ricotta, sausage, sliced garlic, fresh basil, grated parmesan, sea salt, and red pepper flakes.

Virtuous Pie

Thin crust pizzas with wholesome ingredients, salads, garlic knots, ice cream, and the best garlic ranch dip that has ever existed. Seriously, I would lick that ranch off the concrete if it spilled.

Secret Pizza Society

One-of-a-kind pizza with curious flavor combinations. The crust is bursting with buttery garlic and salty goodness that will keep you coming back for more.

Plant Based Papi

Jewan Manuel’s plant-based fusion cuisine has taken Portland by storm. A comfort food mecca, here you will find zesty jalapeño mac & cheese, massive saucy burritos, and Nashville fried chickn’n sandwiches cooked to perfection. Seriously, try it for yourself by visiting Bit House Collective from Tuesday through Saturday or Fortune PDX seven nights a week.

Dirty Lettuce

Mississippi born Alkebulan Moroski will satisfy your soul (and belly) with these ultimate comfort classics like fried chicken, bbq ribs, and fried catfish, all plant-based! Paired perfectly with traditional southern sides of mac n cheese, collard greens, and more, this is a meal to remember.

Native Bowl

A food cart for bowl lovers, this hotspot relies on organic locally sourced ingredients to create flavor-packed dishes. Delicious, healthy, and affordable, this cuisine takes inspiration from flavors from around the globe. The portions are massive, so be prepared for the inevitable food coma nap that follows.

Planted PDX

Their menu features a little bit of everything from flavorful fried rice to loaded macs, fresh salads to reimagined arepas, there is surely something for everyone at this popular food truck. Every dish is incredible, so be sure to try them all!

Canteen

A snug outpost for fresh pressed juices, creamy smoothies, savory bowls, and satiating salads. Try the Bangkok bowl with brown rice, aduki beans, broccoli, red cabbage, avocado-green curry, peanut sauce, kimchi, and sesame seeds.

Harlow

A cafe and juice bar that serves vegan breakfast scrambles, nutrient dense bowls, warm comforting entrees, and protein packed smoothies (+add CBD if you are feeling extra).

Sweet Hereafter

Nom-worthy bar bites and cold mason jar cocktails are enjoyed in the airy and rustic atmosphere of this bustling establishment by Lightning Bar Collective. I absolutely love the Peanut Broccoli Bowl which covers the nutty nutritional yeast breaded tofu, steamed broccoli, and brown rice in a spicy ginger peanut sauce and topped with sesame seeds. Pro tip - add avocado.

Hungry Tiger

The walls are covered with tiger decor and the food is piping hot at this laidback bar. All typical bar finds like wings, tots, mac and burgers are on the menu including their famous vegan corn dogs, which come house battered and fried golden. Play a game of pool or pinball while you indulge.

Black Water Bar

If you’ve ever wanted to enjoy a sensational burger with a housemade black bean and beet patty while listening to live metal music, then this punk-themed dive bar is the place for you. It bears repeating, these burgers are sensational.

The Bye and Bye

With an artsy and laid back ambiance, this is the first all vegan bar from  Lightning Bar Collective. Their straightforward menu of plant-based nibbles, exciting cocktails, and their large outdoor patio, make this a great gathering spot. Try the popular BBQ Brussels Bowl with marinated tofu and brussells sprouts atop of brown rice.

Thunderbird Bar

A trendy hotspot with burgers, sliders, sandwiches, bowls and vegan poutine! Be sure to check out the cool artwork for sale that covers the walls.

The best vegan cheesecake comes in modern flavors like golden milk, chocolate chai, and passionfruit. Keep an eye out for a slice at specialty grocery stores. Or pop open a bottle of wine and order a 6” cake for delivery. No one has to know.
